In
a revelation that ought to shock no one who follows geopolitics or crime, the
DEA has arrested four men who allegedly procured crystal methamphetamine from
North Korea. The North Koreans have denied
that they would make meth and responded as they usually do stating: "another
politically motivated puerile charade" spread by "the Western reptile
media." Perhaps you doth protest
too much. Perhaps. North Korea is known to counterfeit hundred
dollar bills, sell nuclear weapons technology, sell other weapons to rogue
nations and militias. Why wouldn’t they
make and sell meth?

The details, as reported by the Houston Chronicle, get interesting, and involve a former soldier
based out of Hong Kong recruiting ex-snipers to guard the load, smuggling the
drugs out of North Korea to China, and from China to New York, where it would be
transferred to a yacht, to a biker gang, who would eventually distribute it in
New York City.
Somewhere along the way, the DEA
got involved, recorded some calls, arrested a couple of the guys and got them
thrown into jail in Thailand – which is apparently so terrible that they’re
happy to be in jail in New York now.
Apparently, there was a lot of
meth to go around. Thy were importing
100 kilos, at $65,000 per kilo, and the DEA tested the sampler batch at 96-98%
pure.
The attorneys for the accused
smugglers had the line of the day: "I'm curious to know more about the
evidence," said Adam
Perlmutter, Lim's lawyer. "The DEA has a knack for elaborate stings
where ultimately there are words involved but no drugs."
