Robber Flees with Ski Mask Over Helmet, Caught Quickly

In a bold, if not shrewd, move, KeithBaxter was arrested  by a sheriff’s deputy while fleeing the scene of a gas station robbery on a moped with a ski mask over his helmet.  I’ll let that sink in for a minute.

Let’s break that down: (1) He fled the scene of a crime on a moped.  (2) He was wearing a ski mask while fleeing.  (3) The ski mask was over his helmet.

Baxter must have been really easy to find.  And, it’s September.  He couldn’t use the excuse of it being cold outside to justify the ski mask over the helmet, and couldn’t count on many other people to have ski masks on while on a moped.

Baxter was at least apologetic when arrested a short distance away.  He told the sheriff’s deputy that he apologized for robbing the victim but times were hard and he needed the money.  Maybe it was a cry for help. Maybe he figured if he didn’t get away, he’d at least get three meals a day in jail.  If that’s the case, it’s less funny than really, really sad. No word on whether drugs or alcohol were involved.  Forethought surely wasn’t.
