67 year-old Ismael Cruz was sentenced to
35 years in prison last week for raping his son’s prom date. The nineteen year-old victim told police that
she had fallen asleep in May 2012 in her boyfriend’s home after drinking heavily
on the night of her prom. She woke with
her dress partially removed and Cruz on top of her. (Houston Chronicle)
She screamed when she realized it wasn’t
her boyfriend, and her boyfriend, Cruz’s son, heard and beat the tar out of his
father, continuing to come at his dad when police arrived.
Cruz’s only excuse was that he had
consumed 60 beers that night, which seems almost impossible. Now he gets to
live the rest of his life in prison, wondering if he’ll get to wake up with his
clothes half off and some stranger on top of him.
