There is a manhunt on in Detroit as
dozens of officers fanned out across the city Monday after a convicted
carjacker escaped from jail, on the way to court. He attacked the jailer with a
plastic comb and stole the deputy sheriff’s uniform and ran from the courthouse. He carjacked a minivan, without violence, and
is on the lam. The minivan was ditched

Police believe the man, Derreck White,
aka Abraham Pearson, has a police scanner radio.
White was facing many years in prison
for the prior carjacking. He’d spent
months in a mental facility waiting a competency hearing. The prosecution accused him of faking mental
illness. His defense lawyer says it is real and that his client never showed
any symptom of being dangerous. That is
hard to believe.
