In what can be described as every
divorced parent’s worst nightmare, a Warren, Michigan mother, Jennifer Brys, is accused, and arrested for, offering up her
four year-old daughter on Backpage.com to a serial sex offender for “showering.”
The serial sex offender, Edward Reardon, got in a series of text messages where
he offered hundreds of dollars for the meeting, with the mother sending
multiple pictures.

ClickonDetroit reports that: Investigators said the girl’s father found
the text messages before the meeting with Brys and Reardon took place. He
contacted police and Brys and Reardon were arrested.
Thank God that the father found the texts before any damage was done.
Both Brys and Reardon are charged
with sending child sexually abusive material and communication on a computer with
another to commit a crime. Reardon is on
a federal tether for being involved in similar incidents in other states. Here’s hoping they lock him up forever. He is the reason there is civil detention
after time served for sexual convictions are over. It seems obvious that the mother should lose
all parental rights, as well as spend a long, long time in prison.
At some point, Backpage.com needs to face
some more serious liability for allowing this type of posting in the “adult’s
section.” There is no specific information on what the Backpage.com post said, but
it is clear that it was coded enough to let a serial sex offender pick
up that there would be a child involved. Some filter should have picked
this up.
