Houston Cold Case Partially Solved: Fake Drug Deal Double Murder

Donald Miles, a former Houston drug dealer, pled guilty to double murder in a 1990 cold case involving the fake sale of 300 pounds of marijuana.  Miles was at a bar in Greenspoint (also known in Houston as “Guns-point”) when he met two men from Florida who wanted to buy a huge amount of marijuana.  Miles thought he had a source and set up the deal.  When he realized his source couldn’t produce the drugs, he didn’t let the deal stop.

Miles arranged to meet the Florida men at a storage unit in Spring Cypress with the unnamed second suspect (who has yet to be charged).  When the Florida men showed up, they were shot by the second guy.  One of the Florida men didn’t die and Miles was ordered to shoot the second guy.  The Florida guys were buried in a shallow grave near the Hardy Toll Road.  Miles and the other guy took their money.

Miles got $50,000, and now a 40-year sentence.  The other guy will likely get charged soon.
