I spent some time working in a
jail. I’ve known some prisoners outside
of that time as well. I’ve met some
whose lives were so bad on the outside that they liked prison better. They got three meals a day, and a modicum of
safety in that the doors locked at night and there were guards during the day
to watch over them and protect them. But, rest assured, jail sucks. Even so, I met some who committed crimes
specifically to get back into jail. That begs the question, how bad is your
life outside if you like prison better?

Unfortunately, the guards cannot
guard the prisoners from each other all the time, particularly at night when
two prisoners are locked in a cell together.
KPHO reports that Roberto Fernandez, a Mexican
national who was in a private prison in Arizona was about to be released to
Mexico after serving a sentence for a prior sex crime in the US didn’t want to
go back. So, he attacked his cell-mate,
Michael McNaughton, choking him, stomping his head and biting his groin. What
was originally investigated as a fight was changed to a homicide when Fernandez
told detectives that he choked McNaughton while McNaughton was sitting on his
bunk. And he purposely stomped and bit McNaughton so he would get a
first-degree murder charge and stay in prison foreve
It pretty much begs for a capital
charge and a look at why he wasn't kept in isolation.
