A 200-pound
pot-bellied pig named Mud (for real) escaped from his enclosure (prison) and
went feral, taking up the mantle from his fallen Australian brethren (full story here). Mud is from Pinecrest,
North Carolina and made his escape while his “owner”/captor was asleep. After a neighbor, her nanny, three kids and a
German Shepherd couldn’t track the hog down, police were called in. In North Carolina, they understand the
scourge. They understand.
Here’s
how a resident described it to the Miami Herald: “It was Sunday morning, we were all in
the house and my 10-year-old daughter said, ‘Mom! There’s a pig in the front
yard!” said Falcon, 45. “The whole family runs out and chases the pig down the
street. This pig was huge and aggressive.”
Unfortunately
for Mud, but fortunately for the residents of Pinecrest, North Carolina, Mud
was captured after a two-hour chase through the streets of the town and his
days of being feral were over. The scourge
was abated.
No
word on whether Mud’s escape was precipitated by liquid courage. Residents of Pinecrest, keep your beer locked
up. Since it’s the piney woods of North Carolina,
keep your white lightning locked up, too.
