Dallas police have arrested a man
identified as a “person of interest” in the sexual assaults of nine women
across South Dallas since June. The man
arrested, Alan Mason (video in link) has not been charged with sexual assault.
Police received an anonymous tip that Mason had told the tipster that he needed
to get out of town because of something he had done wrong. The tipster also claimed that Mason wears
oval shaped glasses, and matched the other descriptors of the rapist.
The rapes began in June and spanned the
last few months. Community members in South Dallas, and relatives of the later victims, were especially upset that police were not more vocal about the existence of a serial rapist operating in the area. Hopefully they either
got the guy, or got a guy who can help solve the crimes. As of now, Mason isn't being labeled the rapist. Watch out.
