“Things just got a little carried away” says guy who decapitated his roommate

In the understatement of the year, out of Green Acres, Florida, The Palm Beach Post reports   that Scott Tobiassen is in custody for killing, then removing the head and limbs of his roommate of Gerard Longo.

Longo once described Tobiassen as violent and described how Tobiassen bragged about his fighting ability and how “bad” he was.  Tobiassen was also described as having a large knife collection, sharpening his knives as a hobby, and shaving the hair on his legs to test their sharpness.  Where does this information come from?  A 2011 application for a restraining order against Tobiassen, filed by Longo.  Longo apparently got over their past problems and then moved in with Tobiassen.

Drugs were reportedly involved in the murder. Tobiassen apparently failed a drug test that day, lost his job, and got in a fight with Longo.  He hit Longo with a pipe, then stabbed him, then started chopping up his body. He planned on taking pills to kill himself.  This was all reported by Tobiassen’s longtime friend, whom he showed the body, confessed, and tried to get to not call the police by saying that now that she knew, she was an accomplice. She called anyway.  Police found him with bags of Longo, carved up.  Tobiassen told police that “things just got a little carried away today.”  That they apparently did.  By a lot.
